KINDNESS

ACCEPTANCE

BELONGING

By starting in early childhood, we can raise children who are aware and accepting of differences, as well as provide them tools to right the injustices in our world.

ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Maya Gutierrez (she/her). I am an Early Childhood and Family Support professional with over 15 years of experience working with young children and families. I have a Masters degree in Human Development from Columbia University. I am a Bay Area native, and currently live in Contra Costa County, although in the span of my career, I have worked with and supported families in Santa Barbara, CA and East Harlem, NY, in addition to Contra Costa. The last 7 years of my career, has been focused on supporting the growth and development of staff and programs. As a mother of two daughters under 5, anti-bias education is especially important to me, as I am optimistic that we can work together to make the world a better place for all.

TESTIMONIALS

Home: Testimonials

This training is a perfect introduction to anti-bias education. The material and discussion is thought-provoking and extremely relevant to our work. Not only are you able to reflect on your own ideas and perceptions but you are able to adapt the material to developing new strategies in the workplace.

Jyotti Pannu, Associate Division Director

I had a great experience going through this training with Maya. She created a brave space for us to feel comfortable to share our thoughts and ask questions especially when discussing sensitive topics. I have a clear understanding of the purpose and goals of anti-bias education. The individual reflections and group activities were very helpful because it challenged our own bias thoughts, sparked creativity and felt like tools were being added to our toolbox when it comes to creating a more anti-bias environment. I left the training feeling less intimated and more inspired. I also enjoyed reading the variety of books during our breaks. This is a training I highly recommend for all schools and educational settings.

Gianna Baldazo, Community Resource Specialist

Great experience! I appreciate that it went deeper than surface level. Enjoyed the room for discussion and group exercises. The training was very interactive and I really liked that Maya followed the lead of the group and made the content feel more personalized.
